These discreet, portable devices are easy to use, so they’re a favorite for both beginner and advanced vapers. The main elements of every vaporizer are contained in a sleek, compact case. The vape pen is designed to be used with oil, either in disposable cartridges or with a refillable tank. The pen is equipped with an atomizer that can be activated by a lithium-ion battery to heat the oil, which transforms it to vapor that can be inhaled through the pen’s mouthpiece. Vape pens can usually be charged through a USB and are turned on either with a button or automatically when the user inhales.

Customize Your Vape with a Box Mods

Intermediate to advanced vape enthusiasts often moves on from an e-cigarette or a vape pen to a box mod. These devices offer enhanced battery life and can be completely customized. Common features include the ability to control the temperature and wattage of your vape experience. Many mods also have a display screen so you can see this information at a glance. Box mods are usually larger than vape pens, though still relatively portable.

They also feature interchangeable liquid tanks so you’ll never run low on the go. These mods are designed to enhance the flavor of your e-juice, by utilizing larger coils available in a wide variety and many configurations, i.e. multi coils, (double, triple, quad, etc.) or with mesh. In addition, different wicking materials, of which the most popular is cotton, but are also made of flax, hemp, wood pulp, or ceramic, have different advantages for a multiple of juice thickness or taste preferences. Some tanks known as RDA (Rebuildable Drip Atomizer) or RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer) can be custom built with your own atomizer and wick (think of wrapping your own fly-fishing hook). This way, you can drip e-liquid directly on the coil/wick for a huge vapor production, commonly used in vaping cloud competition. By building your own coils, or even using a pre-fab coil and just rewicking when the wick gets residue buildup or burnt, you can save money by just replacing the wick. This improves your vaping experience but can be cumbersome if you are out and about.

Box mods come in a variety of subtypes, including:

• Sub ohm tanks, which use low wattage to produce billowing clouds of vapor
• High wattage box mods, which are powered by up to four batteries and feature either rebuildable or replaceable coils
• Clearomizers, also called mouth to lung tanks, closely mimic the experience of smoking a cigarette
• DNA mods, which incorporate a computer chip that allows you to run low-ohm coils at a higher wattage

Pod systems combine the convenience and intuitive use of a vape pen easy to change pod-style tanks. Some pod vapes come empty that you can fill with your favorite flavor, and/or use different flavors in different pods.
